Slamdot Founder Wins Young Entrepreneur Award, Praises Creative Atmosphere of Innovation Valley
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Slamdot, Inc. (http://www.slamdot.com), announced this week that its founder, Sean Christman, was awarded the Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award at the Knoxville Chamber Pinnacle Business Awards, held at the Knoxville Convention Center. The Young Entrepreneur Award honors a young professional age 40 or younger who is on track to be a top business and community leader.
Slamdot has developed a Web 2.0 hosting platform that integrates all aspects of maintaining a web presence into a single web-based application. "We emphasize integration and ease of use," Christman said. "Our control panel was built on Ruby on Rails, which makes future development a breeze."
Slamdot located to Knoxville, TN, in the spring of 2007.
"We were attracted to the Knoxville-Oak Ridge Innovation Valley because of the spirit of inventiveness and the downtown revitalization taking place here," Christman said. Both the local Knoxville community and the online community have contributed significantly to Slamdot's growth.
Christman said the company plans to offer a private-label version of its control panel to freelancers and web designers later this year. The concept of the new control panel came from Slamdot's own need to efficiently manage its local web design customers while providing the hosting service as well.
"Slamdot offers the type of creative, cutting-edge solutions that make the Innovation Valley a business and technology leader," said Doug Lawyer, vice president of economic development with the Knoxville Chamber.
