What Is Innovation Valley?
Innovation Valley is the regional economic development initiative centered on a 25-mile Technology Corridor with world-class resources in science, technology, and business. Experience shows that a regional approach to economic development offers the most advantages to businesses planning a corporate relocation or expansion and the communities involved.
Innovation Valley is currently implementing Innovation Valley Blueprint 2.0, its second five-year strategic plan for business growth in the Knoxville-Oak Ridge region of East Tennessee. Blueprint 2.0 outlines 5 target recruitment clusters (advanced technology & manufacturing, corporate services, creative media services, energy and transportation) that are based on an analysis of the region’s world-class resources.
Six strategic priorities provide the framework for the group’s business relocation and industrial development efforts:
- Implement New Aggressive Business Recruitment and Retention Programs
- Build the Innovation Valley Brand
- Increase Focus on Talent Retention and Development Regionally
- Enhance Entrepreneurship and Innovation Opportunities
- Promote Sustainability Efforts
- Establish Sustainable Structure and Funding Model
Innovation Valley, managed by the Knoxville Chamber, consists of six partner agencies that collaborate on executing Blueprint 2.0 for long-term business success.
A private, independent board of directors guides the management of this regional partnership.
The Innovation Valley work plan could not be carried out without the generous support of regional business and government partners. To see the full list of Innovation Valley investors, click here.
